Domain of Aset, the Egyptian goddess Isis

Image from the tomb of Horemheb, New Kingdom

Because of Her status, at least in myth, as Wife and Consort to Wsir-known in Greek as Osiris, the first king of Egypt- and as Mother of the next king Heru, known as Horus in Greek, Aset, known in Greek as Isis, was associated with kingship and its power. In religious, state, and funerary art, the goddess Aset/Isis was often represented wearing on Her head the throne, hieroglyphic symbol of Her name. She is further depicted here, clothed in gold and kneeling on the symbol for gold, her hand resting upon the shen or eternity symbol.

Per is the Egyptian word for "house."  Per Aset is thus the House, or Domain, of the goddess Aset/Isis. Learn more about this goddess, the deity known later as Isis, but earliest as Aset.
